12/29/08 - Last post of 2008
Hi Everyone,
I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas, and just want to let you know that as usual, Temecula Valley Sewing Center will be closed on the last day of the year, as well as New Years Day.
2008 certainly was an eventful year. I got married, got custody of my son, had an expensive machine stolen from our store, and then recovered by the police, and much more. While there were obviously unfortunate events for all of us in 2008, I thank God that I had this time in my life, and look forward to what 2009 has in store for us all.
We've already been informed of a Janome sewing machines price increase that goes in to effect on January 1st. If you've been thinking about getting a new sewing machine, and weren't fortunate enough to get one for Christmas, then you might come down in the next couple days and take advantage of the current pricing.
We have AWESOME deals on select Janome models in stock, and while we are prohibited from stating prices online, we guarantee that you won't find a lower price. Come in and let us show you what we have to offer.
God bless,
Brian G.
11/23/08 - Bernina 830 Review
Hello Everyone,
Last week I attended the technical training for the new Bernina 8 Series machines, and I must say, these new machines are not only very impressive, but they also have completely changed the definition of how a sewing machine works.
For years, most of the Bernina machines that have been produced were mechanically similar, but the new Bernina 8 series machines took everything that I knew about servicing a Bernina sewing machine, and changed it.
I know this machine is not quite the machine that everyone can afford, but while learning to service it, I couldn't help but think about the future of sewing machines, and what we are likely to see in the next few years as Bernina applies some of this new technology in other machines. One of the biggest differences between the Bernina 830 and Bernina 820 machines, and other Bernina machines, is that these new 8 series machines have a much larger hook. This larger hook size is a benefit because if the timing is slightly off, the sewing results will remain the same. The 8 series machines also have a very easy to use upper threading feature, a significantly improved lower thread sensor system, a new style of thread cutter, industrial size bobbins, a HUGE 12 inches of space from the needle center to the body of the machine, and so much more.
Without seeing an 8 series machine for yourself, there's no way to fully appreciate how nice a Bernina 830 or Bernina 820 is. I think once you see how great these machines are, you too will be excited about the future of sewing machines, and we owe it all to Bernina!
God bless,
Brian G.
10/15/08 - Bernina Liquidation Sale
Hi Everyone,
We have been advertising sales on Bernina machines for the last couple of months, and have had very low interest. The fact that the economy isn't doing well has affected everyone that I've talked to. We certainly have seen sales slow way down. There was a time when if we had advertised a sale, offering prices so deeply discounted, that we would have sold many machines, and we have barely sold any. At this point, we really have to sell the Bernina machines we have in inventory, regardless of whether we make any money on them or not. If you've ever wanted to own a Bernina machine, now is going to be the best time to purchase one in the history of Temecula Valley Sewing Center's existance. We are cutting our prices down to wholesale level, just to liquidate inventory. As usual, you will still get classes and a warranty through Temecula Valley Sewing Center. Come in as quickly as possible to get the best choice of remaining Bernina machines in stock.
*Temecula Valley Sewing Center reserves the right to discontinue this liquidation sale at any time. Offer only good on machines in stock (both new and demo). All sales must be in-store. We cannot take phone orders or ship these machines.
God bless,
Brian G.
9/29/08 - Make an Offer
Hello Everyone,
Back in July, Aileen had attended Bernina University, and she ordered many Bernina sewing machines at the event. The machines have all come in, and we have more machines than we can handle! We have had sales in the recent past that gave our customers a chance to make offers on sewing machines that we had in stock, in almost an auction style setting, and we thought we would do something similar as an inventory reduction sale. We have so many Bernina machines, we are going to skip the bidding, and let you make an offer!
Come in any time between now and October 11th, and make an offer on any Bernina machine in stock. If your offer is reasonable, (defined as an amount larger than wholesale plus any associated costs of shipping, classes, or warranty), we will offer you to the machine for that price. These prices are as low as they can be without us losing money, so take advantage of this inventory reduction sale, and you can have the machine of your dreams at a greatly reduced price!
Please be aware that we offer financing and accept credit cards as payment for machines, however, due to the fees associated with these forms of payment, we will need to account for those fees if you choose to pay using one of these methods. Regardless of how you choose to pay, we are confident that you won't be able to beat the value of this event.
God bless,
Brian G.
8/25/08 - A new Bernina website
Hello Everyone,
Last week Bernina re-designed their website, and it looks great! We have always heard from customers that the Bernina website was hard to navigate through, and I think you will be pleased with what they have done. Check it out for yourself at www.berninausa.com
Please note: Our Bernina dealer page on the Bernina website has driving directions that are wrong. If you need accurate driving directions, please visit our Janome dealer page, our own store location page, or call us at (951) 694-9576.
God bless,
Brian G.

8/05/08 - The Bernina 8 Series
Hello Everyone,
Last month, Bernina revealed its new Bernina 8 Series, the Bernina 830 and Bernina 820. So much can be said about the new machines that trying to share the details here would itself require a website. That said, I'm not going to try to give you all the details here on the Temecula Valley Sewing Center website. Instead, I've decided to point you to Bernina's special website, www.bernina8series.com, where you can find all of the details of the new machines.
Bernina has said that the machines will be available in November or December, just in time for Christmas, and if you would like to sign up for a personal demonstration of the Bernina 830 or Bernina 820, call the shop and make an appointment. I'm guessing that there will be a waiting list for the machine, as it will be very popular. If you already know you want one of these awesome machines, you can pre-order the machine by leaving a deposit. We also offer financing through GE, so if financing is something you would need or are interested in, come in and fill out an application. We can tell you within minutes if you qualified for financing, and what your available limit is.
Thanks for coming to the website,
Brian G.
7/17/08 - The new Bernina 830 and Bernina 820
Hello Everyone,
Bernina won't allow me to reveal any of the details of it's awesome new top of the line machines just yet, but I am looking forward to telling you about them soon. I believe I can officially release the details next Monday. I really wish I could share the details with you now, because these machines are fabulous. The Bernina 830 and Bernina 820 will be everything that you have ever wanted in a sewing machine and more, and I feel confident that these machines will beat the competition by a mile. In fact, I think if you purchased a different top of the line machine recently, you are going to be very disappointed.
Aileen is at Bernina University in Kansas City this week, and she has been calling and telling me about the exciting features of the new machines as she learns about them. I can tell she is really excited to share with you also. She will be back in the shop next Tuesday, so you might want to come in and speak with her about the machines. We will be posting some of the details here if you can't make it in, however, an advantage to coming in to the shop will be that you can experience the Bernina 830 virtual CD, and get a feel for how the machine will actually work. The machines themselves aren't due out until later in the year, and we are hoping to have our demonstration machine very soon.
Take care,
Brian G.
6/17/08 - Fiber Art / Window Hanger Contest!
Temecula Valley Sewing Center wants to show other customers that we are having fun in our embroidery club, sewing classes, and friendship groups. Our goal is to encourage people to sew creatively, and we want you to participate!
Contest participants should make a square shaped sign-like window hanging, finished on all sides, sewn by sewing machine, serger, quilting machine, or felting machine, with at least one of the following features:
- machine embroidered design(s)
- hand embroidered design(s)
- machine applique(s)
- hand applique(s)
- machine felting
The words "Temecula Valley Sewing Center" must be included on the window hanger design, and "Embroidery Club 2008" is optional. The measurements of the sign-like window hanging shall be such that it will display within one of the squares of our store's front window panes, which maximum dimensions are 20 wide by 22 tall. Entries will hang by a rod that is 3/8 to half of an inch thick, so a built in sleeve, loops, or other attachment for hanging to accommodate that rod size is required on all entries. Any further embellishment to the sign-like wall hanging is encouraged.
When your contest entry is finished, bring it to Temecula Valley Sewing Center and we will hang it in one of the windows. Entries will not be accepted that hang outside of the 20 by 22 inch window pane parameters. Window space is limited, and if necessary, entries will be hung inside the shop and possibly rotated to the front windows.
All entries must be submitted by July 31, 2008. ALL customers will have an opportunity to judge these entries until Embroidery Club on August 30th, 2008. During August's Embroidery Club, all Embroidery Club attendees will have a last chance to vote for their favorite hanger. Votes WILL NOT be anonymous to TVSC to ensure that only one vote per customer is entered. Votes will be counted after Embroidery Club, and TVSC will contact the winners and announce the results of the contest within 7 days. Winner need not be present at Embroidery Club to win.
Only one contest submission per person is allowed. Submissions become the property of TVSC. By entering the contest, contest participants agree that their work may be photographed, and either the original work or photograph may be reproduced, displayed, and used by TVSC, in any format or media, in order to promote sewing, quilting, embroidery, or TVSC.
Winners will be required to pay sales tax for merchandise that they win, just as if they had purchased the merchandise. If vendors introduce more prizes for the contest, the current tier of prizes may be amended.
Current tier or prizes:

- 2nd prize is a Juki HZL-E70 sewing machine (MSRP $999.00).

Good luck to all who participate!
